Deepest Shade-Deep Ebony

Fairest Shade- Pale

Stars Coming Soon!

Nyx cosmetics is the most recent makeup powerhouse to announce its upcoming launch of 45 shades of foundation with the ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’ full coverage foundation. They recruited the Youtube beauty sensation Alissa Ashley to help them nail the different skin tones and undertones of women of color. She helped them come up with the ‘in-between’ shades they were missing in some of their other foundation collections. This foundation will retail for $15 and can be found at Ulta and on the Nyxcosmetics.com  once it is released on Aug. 16th, 2018

COLOURPOP – NO FILTER FOUNDATION – 42 SHADES

Deepest Shade-Deep Dark 215

Fairest Shade- Fair 05

4 Stars on Colourpop.com

Colourpop is a fairly new makeup brand but since its debut in 2014 it has been steadily carving out its own lane in the beauty world. Back in 2017 makeup lovers went crazy over the brands No Filter Concealers, it was and still is a staple of quite a few beauty gurus. So, when they launched the  No Filter Foundation on June 14th, 2018 the makeup world went BANANAS!! 42 all-inclusive shades was not to shabby. This UK based brand did a great job with their first attempt at a foundation. This foundation may not be found at a “drugstore” but is damn sure has a drugstore makeup price tag at $12, you can grab yours off Colourpop.com

COVERGIRL – TRUBLEND MATTE MADE – 40 SHADES

Deepest Shade- Espresso

Fairest Shade- Fair Porcelain

3.7 Stars on Covergirl.com

Now, we all know Covergirl is an OG in the drugstore makeup game! It seems like CoverGirl has been undergoing a reinvention within the last couple of years and with that came the launch of the Trublend Matte Made foundation. The initial launch of 4o shades of foundation for a true drugstore makeup brand is pretty unheard of. These foundations can retail anywhere from $8.49-$11.49, depending on where you like to shop. You can also get it online at Covergirl.com. If this Trublend Matte Made foundation is just the tip of the iceberg, I can’t wait to see what’s next.  I have been able to try a few other complexion products Covergirl has released go check out my first impression, click here.

MAYBELLINE – FIT ME  MATTE & PORELESS – 40 SHADES

Deepest Shade- Espresso

Fairest Shade- Fair Porcelain

4.3 Stars on Maybelline.com

Maybellines Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation has to be hands down one of the most popular drugstore foundations on the market! The cult favorite got a mini facelift when Maybelline expanded the collection and add 16 new shades in May 2017. 40 shades of foundation for a drugstore was pretty mind-blowing at that time, to say the least. The fact that this foundation is so accessible as well as affordable only adds to the popularity. You can literally walk into any drugstore, Walmart, Target, etc and find it. It can be found online at Ulta, Maybelline.com and it only retails for $5.94-$7.99 depending on the retailer, LORDT you can’t beat that!!

40 SHADES of FOUNDATION or MORE the NEW NORM?

Even though Makeup Forever and Mac have had 4o shades of foundations under their belts for a while now, for some reason it didn’t impact the makeup world like Fenty Beauty did. As women of color, I am excited to see so many makeup brands jumping on broad the all-inclusive train. I am especially happy about the drugstore makeup brands taking the time out to bring us SHADES and SAVINGS at the SAME DAMN TIME…lol…I couldn’t help myself! Have you tried any of these foundations listed above or how do you feel about the new trend of 40 shades or more? I hope you enjoyed this post and please feel free to drop a comment below!!!
